Biking – 40-50 km (25-30 mi.) a day over relatively flat terrain with a few small hills—all very manageable for people trying their first biking trip.
Walking – 6-10 km (4-6 mi.) a day on country lanes, footpaths and coastal or forest trails, all on relatively flat terrain, perhaps with an occasional hill.
Biking – 40-50 km (25-30 mi.) a day over terrain that’s relatively flat but will include inclines and the occasional climb or two.
Walking – 8-12 km (5-7 mi.) a day over relatively flat terrain, with occasional steeper climbs.

Walking – 11-15 km (7-10 mi.) a day over fairly hilly terrain offering lots of challenges. Routes are along high meadow paths and/or well-maintained cliffside or alpine trails, with a few steep ascents to make you feel invigorated.
Vineyards, grottos, and whitewashed villages set against the Adriatic: myriad landscapes await you in Puglia, the historic hunting grounds of marauding royalty and occupying forces (who clearly come for the nosh). Carnivores, get ready to swoon for pampanella: ribs, Puglia-style.

REQUEST A QUOTEWelcome to Matera! Unwind in your cave hotel with sprawling views in the heart of the sassi. Early evening, meet with a local guide who will lead you through the two main quarters of Matera, Sasso Barisano and Sasso Caveoso.
Hop on your bikes for a loop ride into the countryside of Basilicata, with sweeping views of wheat fields, vineyards and hillsides dotted with small farmhouses. Arrive in Laterza, a town known for its bread and ceramics.
Head to Alberobello and meet with a local guide who will explain the origins of the town's distinct homes known as trulli. You may want to lunch here, or hop on your bikes and stop along the coast for fresh seafood and a dip in the sea.
From Monopoli, loop through the countryside to the hilltop town of Conversano then on to Polignano a Mare, a charming little hamlet perched on a limestone cliff along the Adriatic. For avid riders, there is the possibility to add some miles to today's ride.
Today you have two biking options: a flat leisurely ride along the ancient via Traiana or a more challenging option across the hills of the Itria Valley. Both culminate in the white-washed village of Ostuni for lunch before heading to Lecce for an evening tour.
